Job summary
SharpSearch Solutions in Hauppauge, NY is seeking a hands-on Sheet Metal Engineer to lead programming and process optimization for laser cutters, punches, and press brakes. You will translate complex drawings into high-performance metal components, collaborating with engineering, production, and quality teams.
The ideal candidate has 3+ years' programming experience, proficiency in SolidWorks and AMADA CAD/CAM software, nesting and tooling optimization, and knowledge of GD&T and ISO quality
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in programming for sheet metal fabrication.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AMADA CAD/CAM software, including SheetWorks, AP100/AP100US, and Dr.ABE Blank/Bend, with experience programming AMADA laser, punch, combination, and/or press-brake equipment.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes, tolerances, tooling, and material properties, and MIG/TIG/laser welding.
- Experience with nesting software and optimization of material usage.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, lean manufacturing, and quality systems (ISO9001/AS9100 preferred).
Responsibilities
- Create programs from blueprints using CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Amada, or similar).
- Optimize nesting, tool paths, and machine setup to reduce waste and increase output.
- Collaborate with machinists to troubleshoot and improve production processes.
- Support new product launches and ensure parts meet tight tolerances and customer specs.
