Job summary

Surge Staffing is seeking a Machine Operator for a full-time role in Pittsburgh, PA. The position combines machine operation, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, material handling, and packaging.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable using manufacturing equipment and hand tools. Previous manufacturing experience is preferred, but strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in manufacturing, production, machine operation, warehouse, or metal fabrication is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment.
• Ability to safely operate machinery after training.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, blueprints, or shop drawings.
• Comfortable using a tape measure, calipers, square, and other measuring tools.
• Basic math skills, including fractional and decimal measurements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate sheet metal fabrication equipment.
• Read and follow blueprints, work orders, and shop drawings.
• Measure parts and verify dimensions during production.
• Inspect finished parts for quality and proper fit.
• Assemble products per work instructions and customer orders.
• Package, label, and prepare finished products for shipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory and report shortages or discrepancies.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on machines.
• Operate forklifts and other handling equipment when authorized.
• Follow safety procedures and quality standards.
• Complete production, shipping, and receiving documentation.
