Sheet Metal Abrasive Finisher - 2nd Shift

Chesterton, IN

Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, has openings for Abrasive Finishers for our 2nd shift operations working full-time Monday-Thursday and may require working on Friday based on workloads.

Urschel employee-owners design and manufacture industrial cutting equipment for food processing and allied industries around the world from our global headquarters located in Chesterton, Indiana, U.S.A. Consumers purchase goods manufactured on Urschel cutting equipment on a daily basis. Advanced manufacturing technologies are utilized at our climate controlled, clean, and environmentally conscious facility.

Starting pay is $28.25/hour + 5% Shift Differential

A day in the life of an Abrasive Finisher includes grinding, sanding, or polishing frames and/or fabricating sheet metal parts. Sets up and operates grinders, sanders, and pneumatic hand tools, and selects proper abrasive products for each operation. Repairs imperfections on frames and sheet metal by welding and uses abrasive blasters to obtain desired surface finish.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, one year work experience, ability to use measuring instruments, solving math problems, basic mechanical aptitude, basic computer skills, and the ability to communicate effectively. Physical demands include continuous standing and use of vibratory tools. Lifting requirements up to 50 lbs.
