Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons is seeking an Assistant Press Operator to support press make-ready, operation, and maintenance of sheet-fed or web offset printing presses. The role operates on a 12-hour day shift rotating between Week 1 and Week 2 schedules.

You will assist Press Operators with setup, adjustments, and quality control, ensuring printing height, color accuracy, and registration meet specifications. A strong mechanical aptitude and attention to safety are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully.
• Skill to follow instructions to operate equipment safely and produce the desired product.
• Ability to use micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.
• Ability to make adjustments to feeder and feed board and related components.
• Skill in performing routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment under guidance of senior level Press Operators.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Requires minimum 2 years general knowledge of offset presswork procedures and materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist in press make-ready, operating, and maintaining sheet-fed or web offset printing press.
• Inserting packing sheets on plate cylinder to build up plate to printing height and installing plates and blankets on press cylinders.
• Adjusts press machine parts, such as feeder and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, feed wheels, and cams.
• Assist in removing and replacing worn rollers and adjusting pressure between rollers of press.
• Wash blankets and cleans ink and ink distributing rollers and ink fountains.
