Job summary

Henkel is seeking a Safety, Health & Environment professional to support program implementation at the Cleveland facility. You will manage regulatory compliance, conduct SHE inspections, and lead safety investigations, partnering with cross-functional teams to drive improvements.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant bachelor’s degree, CSP certification, and proficiency in OSHA PSM. Strong communication and project management skills are essential, with ability to train staff and influence safety

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of SHE programs and management systems to ensure environmental regulatory compliance.
• Manage compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct SHE inspections and help identify areas for improvement.
• Set priorities for safety investigations and assign responsibilities accordingly.
• Identify sampling priorities and request necessary budget and resources.
• Recommend engineering controls or work process changes to prevent injuries.
• Conduct follow-up assessments to confirm effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Administer SHE practices under OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14000 standards.
• Prepare reports and recommendations independently, while supporting others in reporting.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to address safety concerns with multidisciplinary solutions.
• Recommend improvements related to equipment purchases, workspace layout, and work process planning.
• Communicate with regulatory authorities when required.
• Identify training needs and oversee training delivery.

What You’ll Do

• Support the implementation of SHE programs and management systems to ensure environmental regulatory compliance at Henkel’s Cleveland facility.
• Manage compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct SHE inspections as required and help identify areas for improvement.
• Set priorities for safety and health investigations across different work areas and assign responsibilities accordingly.
• Identify sampling priorities and request the necessary budget and resources to meet program objectives.
• Recommend engineering controls or work process changes to prevent workplace injuries and occupational illnesses.
• Conduct follow-up assessments to confirm the effectiveness of recommended corrective actions.
• Administer Henkel UA Employee Health, Safety, and Environmental management practices under OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14000 standards.
• Support dispensary services and related safety-health requirements at the facility.
• Prepare reports and recommendations independently, while also supporting other employees in developing technical reports.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to address safety and health concerns through multidisciplinary solutions.
• Recommend improvements related to equipment purchases, engineering controls, workspace layout, and work process planning.
• Communicate with regulatory authorities whenever required.
• Identify training needs, develop new training programs as needed, and oversee training delivery.
• Serve as an internal training resource when required.
• Review industrial hygiene sampling plans and results, and assist with strategy development and interpretation when needed.
• Act as an internal subject matter expert for safety-related matters.
• Monitor injury and illness trends and work with teams to reduce workplace risks.
• Partner with Operations, Risk Control, and other departments to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Develop and implement SHE policies, procedures, and programs with input from the Regional SHE Director and Director of Cleveland Operations.
• Provide guidance to engineers and management on developing or improving engineering controls.
• Contribute to the design of new facilities where hazardous materials or hazardous processes will be present.
• Work with Facilities to establish new safety committees or expand the role and scope of existing safety committee activities.
• Prepare management reports on safety, health, and environmental investigations, evaluations, and improvement areas.

What Makes You a Good Fit

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
