Job summary

Bekaert is seeking a SHE professional to support the Plant SHE Manager by implementing safety, health, and environmental programs and maintaining regulatory compliance. The role requires conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and training across employees and contractors at our U.S.

site. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in SHE, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and ISO14001 auditor certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering) with authorized certification.
• ISO14001 Internal Auditor Certificate is required.
• 1–3 years of experience in a SHE department, preferably in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• SHE Program Support: assist in implementing SHE policies and procedures and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: conduct risk assessments and help develop mitigation strategies; investigate incidents and support corrective actions.
• Training and Awareness: deliver SHE training for employees and contractors; promote continuous SHE improvement.
• Emergency Response: assist in developing and maintaining emergency plans; participate in drills and coordinate responses.
• Reporting and Documentation: prepare SHE reports and maintain accurate SHE records and metrics.

Purpose and Mission

• Responsible for supporting the Plant SHE Manager in implementing and maintaining safety, health, and environmental programs. This role involves conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

SHE Program Support:

• Assist in implementation of SHE policies and procedures.
• Support the SHE Plant Manager in ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations.
• Participate in regular audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

• Conduct risk assessments and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, and support the implementation of corrective actions.
• Maintain records of incidents, inspections, and training.

Training and Awareness:

• Assist in delivering SHE training programs for employees and contractors.
• Ensure all personnel are aware of SHE policies and procedures.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement in SHE practices.

Emergency Response:

• Support the development and maintenance of emergency response plans.
• Participate in emergency drills and training exercises.
• Assist in coordinating responses to emergency situations.

Reporting and Documentation:

• Prepare and submit SHE reports to the SHE Site Manager and regulatory agencies as required.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date SHE records.
• Track and report on SHE performance metrics.

Skills

• Competence in safety techniques, including risk assessment.
• Proficience in safety protocols and risk management
• ISO 14001 and 45001 knowledge

Previous Experience

• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a SHE department, preferably in a manufacturing environment, or a similar role

Qualifications and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering). Authorized certification required.
• ISO14001 Internal Auditor Certificate
