Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus is seeking a Shared Laboratory Resource Assistant to support laboratory operations by cleaning and processing animal cages within the Biological Resource Unit. You will work with a dedicated team on a day shift from 7:30 a.m.

to 4:00 p.m., contributing to research and animal care in a world‑class setting. Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma/GED and three months of on‑the‑job training to learn department procedures and policies.

Qualifications

• Three months on‑the‑job training to learn lab procedures and CCF policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cleaning and processing of animal cages in the Biological Resource Unit.
• Notify supervisors of equipment malfunctions.
• Perform quality assurance on assigned activities per SOPs.
• Assist with collecting, receiving, and transporting supplies from labs.
• Process departmental communications via iLab, email, and phone.
• Adhere to cleaning procedures and maintain stock of supplies.
• Complete three months of on‑the‑job training to learn procedures.

As a Shared Laboratory Resource Assistant, you will provide essential support to laboratory operations by supporting the cleaning and processing of animal cages within the Biological Resource Unit.

A caregiver in this role works days from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

• Perform a variety of support activities at a lower scientific complexity level and function as a key support to the operations and research customers,
• Notify senior personnel or a supervisor of equipment malfunction or other issues that need immediate attention.
• Perform quality assurance on all assigned activities per procedures or SOPs.
• Assist with collecting, receiving, processing, transporting, or storing supplies from various labs.
• Receive/answer and process departmental communications through iLab ordering system, email, phone and/or voicemail or other method.
• Perform appropriate cleaning procedures for specific areas and maintain adequate stock of supplies as needed.
• Complete three months of on-the-job training to learn department laboratory procedures, instrumentation and Cleveland Clinic policies.

Minimum qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• After selection and placement into this job, three months on-the-job training to learn department laboratory procedures, instrumentation and CCF policies

Preferred qualifications

• Comfortable being around research animals

Physical Requirements

• Ability to transport equipment and/or animals weighing up to 75 pounds
• Ability to understand and follow detailed scientific or medical instructions given by investigators and/or veterinarians
• Ability to work in an environment of unpleasant odors and sights
• Subject to animal bites and scratches
• May be required to work with biological, chemical and radiation hazards after proper training.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $15.25

Maximum hourly: $19.60
