Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, TX seeks a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) to provide timely, compassionate care to sexual assault victims and oversee medical-forensic exams, pregnancy prophylaxis, STI prevention, documentation, and referrals for follow-up and legal proceedings.

Required: BSN preferred, valid Texas RN license, SANE certification (or in-progress to be obtained within 6 months), TNCC (or within 6 months), and two years of ED/acute care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing - BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• The SANE will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim and may conduct a medical-forensic exam, provide prophylaxis, document findings, and refer for follow-up and legal proceedings.

Job Description

Job Purpose

• The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. The SANE exam may include a medical-forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation, and referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing- BSN preferred

Licenses And/or Certifications

• Valid and Current Texas RN license.
• Current SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) certification from the Texas Attorney General office or
• Currently in-progress of certification and obtained within 6 months of hire
• Current TNCC, or required within 6 months of hire

Work Experience

• Two years of Emergency Department or Acute Care Experience, preferred
