Job summary

City of Saint Paul is seeking Sewer Services Workers to maintain the city’s sanitary and storm sewers. The role includes working in confined spaces, operating equipment, and performing manual labor to install, inspect, and repair sewer infrastructure.

A Class A CDL is required for certified vacancies; temporary roles may accept Class B with advancement potential. Open postings are managed through the Public Works Sewer Utility Division, with interviews held bi-weekly to fill immediate vacancies.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL with no restrictions for airbrakes.
• Be able to perform manual labor and work in confined spaces around sewer infrastructure.
• Willingness to respond to after-hours calls, overtime, and emergency work such as sewer backups and snow emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Work in confined spaces including sewer pipes, manholes, tunnels, and pumping stations.
• Drive vehicles and operate general construction and specialized equipment.
• Perform cleaning, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing sewer infrastructure.
• Adhere to safety rules, policies, and procedures while completing tasks.
