Job summary

The City of Syracuse is seeking workers to perform specialized manual tasks related to cleaning and maintaining sewer lines and mains. Under supervision, you will operate sewer equipment and perform a range of maintenance tasks in varied weather conditions.

Candidates must be prepared for heavy physical work, follow safety measures, and complete routine equipment checks. CDL B is required at appointment and for continued employment. Benefits include health, dental, and paid time off.

Responsibilities

• Clean sewer mains and perform maintenance tasks.
• Operate various motor equipment to transport workers and materials.
• Inspect sewer lines and replace damaged access hole covers.
• Assist in operating sewer-rod equipment and busket machines.
• Use jackhammers and related equipment for maintenance work.
• Maintain equipment and perform routine service checks.
• May train others in equipment handling as directed by supervisor.
