Job summary

City of Omaha is seeking a skilled Utility Construction Technician - SE to maintain and repair the City’s sanitary sewer infrastructure. The role requires extensive knowledge of sewer systems, ability to operate heavy equipment, and strict adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Two years of construction, sewer construction, sewer cleaning experience with at least 1 year sewer construction experience.
• High school graduation or its equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides skilled service in construction, repair, and maintenance of the City’s wastewater collection systems.
• Installs and pours concrete forms and pavement; constructs sewer structures up to 30 ft deep.
• Repairs and replaces sewer main and service lines using various pipe materials.
• Operates and maintains hydro excavation equipment; runs jet truck for cleaning lines.
• Monitors safety spaces, traffic control, and proper shoring and confined space entry.
• Reads maps and locates manholes and piping; updates data in field software.
