Job summary

Union Sanitary District is seeking a Collection System Worker I to join our crew that keeps the sewer system running and protects the San Francisco Bay. The position involves outdoor work in all kinds of weather, direct contact with raw sewage, and occasional overtime.

Responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, installing, and inspecting sanitary sewer lines, plus hands-on field work with tools and equipment. A strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform physical labor including use of a 90-lb class jackhammer.
• Ability to follow written and spoken instructions in English and communicate clearly.
• Basic math skills and willingness to learn sewer maintenance methods and new software.
• Commitment to working safely.
• Ability to pass background check, drug and alcohol test, and job-related physical exam.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, install, and inspect sanitary sewer lines.
• Perform hands-on field work, including digging, concrete work, and operating hand and power tools.
• Work in a team to respond to service calls and keep the system flowing.
• Learn sewer maintenance methods and technology on the job.
