Role Summary

The Setup Technician - Apprenticeship is responsible for the installation, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of various plastics machines and equipment. This entry-level role focuses on ensuring machines are properly set up for production, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring safe and efficient operation. The Technician will work under direct supervision and follow established procedures to ensure high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation, setup, and calibration of various machines and equipment, ensuring they meet operational specifications.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment, make adjustments, and resolve standard malfunctions to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Test and inspect machines to verify safe and efficient operation. Perform routine maintenance and address minor mechanical issues as they arise.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operations.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) as needed to support machine setup and production processes.
  • Accurately complete and maintain required documentation, including setup logs, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
  • Adhere to 5S standards, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education: High School; Required to enroll in technical school program through DWD
  • Experience: Minimum of 0 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with a focus on equipment setup and basic maintenance.
  • Certifications/Licenses:
  • Basic understanding of powered industrial equipment is preferred.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and ensure machines are set up correctly.
  • Ability to perform hands-on work involving manual dexterity, including the operation of tools and equipment.
  • Strong focus on safety practices and adherence to all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment, following instructions and collaborating with other technicians.
