Job summary

VDart Inc is seeking a Design Engineer to prepare detailed mechanical or electrical drawings for engineering and manufacturing. You will produce working plans, analyze parts, and ensure accuracy from notes and sketches.

The role requires knowledge of CAD, schematics, MIL-STD drawings, and manufacturing engineering concepts. You will verify dimensions, support ECO changes, and assist with production-ready designs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electro-mechanical drafting work and reading schematics/blueprints.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD drawings and CAD tools.
• Understanding of manufacturing engineering concepts and quality control.
• Ability to estimate materials and times; project management exposure is a plus.
• Able to work with English-language documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

• Makes final sketches, parts lists, checks dimensions and materials for drawings.

JOB TITLE: Design Engineer
FLSA STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: Director, Engineering

SummaryPrepares working plans, detailed drawings, and complete mechanical or electrical drawings of components and assemblies from notes, verbal instructions, and rough or details sketches for engineering or manufacturing purposes.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Makes final sketch of proposed drawings, parts lists, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
• Makes any adjustments or changes necessary or desires. Modifies existing documentation per Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s).
• Draws charts for presentations of statistical data. Draws finished designs from sketches. Selects suitable materials and finishes.
• Uses computer-assisted draftings (CAD) equipment and software.
• Makes engineering computations, writes specifications, and makes adjustments in drawings of specification. Prepares design releases to manufacturing.
• Verifies completed work, checking dimensions, materials to be used, and quantities.
• Assists engineers in development of complex drawings involving some individual creativeness, application of advanced drafting techniques and knowledge of practical, mechanical and fabrication problems.
• Prepares product cost estimates.

As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are represetative.

• College level education highly desirable with specialized instruction in drafting principles/techniques. Degree in Mechanical Engineering and plus.

MINIMUM DIRECTLY RELATED JOB EXPERIENCE:

• Four years related experience in technical, manufacturing environment.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

• Knowledge of electro-mechanical drafting work.
