Job summary

STULZ USA in Frederick, MD is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Drafter to design and prepare drawings for manufacturing and service. You will manage design/drafting projects, support engineering, and create system, layout, weldment, and assembly drawings using 2D/3D CAD tools.

Responsibilities include checking dimensions, documenting changes, assisting with design reviews, and communicating with engineering, manufacturing, and sales to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical drawing or blueprint reading experience required.
  • Two years of on-the-job CAD experience or four years CAD software experience.
  • Ability to read and understand English instructions; basic algebra skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage design/drafting projects from concept to completion.
  • Assist Engineering with design projects and liaise between Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales.
  • Prepare product documentation and drawings (system/component model, installation/layout/weldment/assembly).
  • Check dimensions and material usage; ensure drawings reflect dimensional changes.

Job description

Perform design, drafting, and other duties pertaining to the preparation of new or existing drawings for the purpose of manufacturing or other usage. Responsible for managing design/drafting projects and providing design solutions for design/development projects and product change requests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage design/drafting projects from concept to completion
  • Assists Engineering staff with design projects and acts as a liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales departments
  • Provides design solutions for design/development projects and product change requests
  • Prepare product documentation, checking dimensions of parts, material to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the whole structure. Drawings to include but not limited to the following: system/component model, installation/layout/ weldment/assembly drawings, piece part drawings, and isometric drawings
  • Utilize red-lined drawings, engineering change requests, and any instructions supplied to prepare revised drawings incorporating dimensional change or pertinent data
  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings
  • Uses computer assisted drawings (2D/3D CAD) equipment and software
  • Interact with engineering and manufacturing personnel to solve any problems that may arise during the manufacturing process and to document the corrective action.
  • Participate in design reviews to determine the feasibility of proposed designs and offer opinions for product improvement
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:
  • Minimum one-year college or trade school education in mechanical drawing and related areas with minimum of two years on-the-job experience or
  • Minimum four years of on-the-job experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or comparable CAD software

Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and understand English instructions
Mathematical Skills:
  • Individuals, as a minimum, must possess basic Algebra skills
