Qualifications

• Must have completed standards outlined in the personnel achievement guideline or be deemed to meet by supervisor based on division location.
• 5 to 10 years of welding and fabrication experience required.
• Be willing to become a Certified Welder (if not certified).
• Must comprehend, speak and write English.
• Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• High School Diploma or related equivalent required.
• Post High School trade school desired.
• Combination of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Welds together metal components of products such as pipe and metal parts used in heavy equipment.
• Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into holder or threads consumable electrode wire through welding gun.
• Connects cables to adjust amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified.
• Starts power supply to produce electric current and forms arc for welding.
• Guides electrode or gun along weld line to achieve required fusion depth and bead quality.
