American Rooter in Freeland, PA is seeking an experienced Service Plumber / Drain Cleaning Technician to diagnose and repair residential plumbing issues, clear blockages, and perform sewer inspections. You’ll work independently with office support for scheduling and customer communication.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair residential plumbing problems, including leaks, faucets, toilets, valves, pressure-reducing valves, and water heaters.
• Clear drain and sewer blockages using professional cable machines and hydro-jetting equipment.
• Perform sewer camera inspections and locate underground lines.
• Locate underground water service leaks using acoustic equipment, based on your experience and training.
• Perform or assist with CIPP lining projects, based on your experience and training.
• Explain findings clearly, recommend appropriate repairs, and help customers understand their options.
• Prepare estimates, obtain customer approval, and collect payments when required.
• Complete plumbing assessments and preventive maintenance for SallyCare members.

Service Plumber / Drain Cleaning Technician

American Rooter is hiring an experienced Service Plumber / Drain Cleaning Technician to join our Northeast Pennsylvania team. If you enjoy troubleshooting, take pride in quality workmanship, and want to keep building your skills, we want to hear from you.

Our work includes residential plumbing repairs, professional drain cleaning, sewer diagnostics, underground leak detection, and trenchless pipe lining. You’ll have the independence to put your experience to work in the field, with support from our Freeland office and management team for scheduling, customer communication, and questions that come up on the job.

Experience in underground acoustic leak detection or CIPP pipe lining is especially valuable. We’re also willing to train the right candidate in these specialties.

Pay, Benefits & Equipment

• Hourly pay based on experience and demonstrated ability.
• Additional earning potential: Opportunity to earn a 15% commission on profit from qualifying customer-paid sales, subject to company program terms.

Build Your Skills in Specialized Services

We’re especially interested in technicians with experience in either or both of these areas:

• Underground acoustic leak detection: Using acoustic leak-detection equipment to locate leaks on underground water service lines running from the curb to the house.
• Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining: Performing or assisting with trenchless pipe-lining repairs.

These specialty skills are preferred, and training is available for the right candidate. If you have a strong foundation in plumbing or professional drain cleaning, good troubleshooting skills, and a willingness to learn, we encourage you to apply.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose and repair residential plumbing problems, including leaks, faucets, toilets, valves, pressure-reducing valves, and water heaters.
• Clear drain and sewer blockages using professional cable machines and hydro-jetting equipment.
• Perform sewer camera inspections and locate underground lines.
• Locate underground water service leaks using acoustic equipment, based on your experience and training.
• Perform or assist with CIPP lining projects, based on your experience and training.
• Explain findings clearly, recommend appropriate repairs, and help customers understand their options.
• Prepare estimates, obtain customer approval, and collect payments when required.
• Complete plumbing assessments and preventive maintenance for members of SallyCare, American Rooter’s preventive plumbing membership.
• Document findings, completed work, and photos in ServiceTitan.
• Keep your service vehicle, tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
• Follow company safety procedures and communicate with the office throughout the day.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous hands-on experience in service plumbing, professional drain cleaning, or both.
• The ability to troubleshoot problems and complete work independently within your experience level, with sound judgment about when to ask for support.
• Dependability, clear communication, and a professional attitude with customers and coworkers.
• Pride in your workmanship and respect for customers’ homes and property.
• A valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
• Comfort using an iPad or mobile app for job information, estimates, photos, documentation, and timekeeping.
• The ability to perform the essential duties of the position, including handling equipment and working in basements, crawl spaces, and outdoor conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Experience with sewer cameras, hydro-jetting equipment, underground line locating, and ServiceTitan is also a plus.

You’ll serve customers throughout Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and surrounding Northeast Pennsylvania communities. This is an in-person field position requiring travel throughout our service area.

You must have your own reliable transportation to and from our Freeland office. A company service vehicle is provided for work use.
