Job summary

MacAllister Machinery Co., Inc. is seeking a Service Technician to perform testing, repair, and rebuilding of heavy equipment in our service shop.

The role involves ordering parts, documenting service reports, handling returns, and scheduling labor while maintaining strict safety standards. Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment, with hydraulics, powertrain, and electrical systems knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational diesel repair training preferred.
• At least 3 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment, preferably Caterpillar.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, powertrain, and electrical systems; basic PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, repair, and rebuilding of heavy equipment in the service shop.
• Order parts, write service reports, and process returns and core returns.
• Assign time to jobs and adhere to safety regulations.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and properly care for tools and equipment.

Job description

Position Summary: Service Technician performs mechanical services on new and used heavy equipment in the service shop area. The position is responsible for testing, repairing, and rebuilding heavy equipment. Additional responsibilities include ordering parts, writing service reports, return of parts, core returns, assigning time to jobs and adhering to all safety regulations. The Technician is also responsible for housekeeping (5S) and properly maintaining company issued tools and equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through a high school education or equivalent. Technical background provided through a vocational school with studies in diesel equipment repair.
• At least 3 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment, preferably with Caterpillar. Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, power train and electrical systems.
• Can operate industry specific PC and main frame programs with a basic understanding of MS Word, Excel, and database systems.
