Job description

Bring your skills to the 2020 Kenworth Dealer of the Year! Kenworth Sales Co., a 37-location Kenworth and Isuzu truck dealership group, is looking for a Service Technician (2nd Shift) to join our team in Richmond, VA.

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Service Technician is to perform high-quality repairs on customer equipment and make recommendations for additional services as determined during servicing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Receive repair order assignments from the Shop Foreman.
  2. Perform work in order and in a timely, thorough manner, maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  3. Advise the Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer.
  4. Determine if further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer and communicate these recommendations.
  5. Maintain training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques.
  6. Attend training sessions as required by the Service Manager.
  7. Perform additional repairs if returned by the customer due to faulty workmanship.
  8. Maintain accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked jobs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in medium and/or heavy truck repair and maintenance.
  • Outstanding mechanical aptitude and skills.
  • VA State Inspector's certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Valid Class A or B CDL or willingness to obtain one.
  • Paccar, Cummins, and CAT Certifications or willingness to obtain.
  • Personal motivation and self-reliance.
  • Desire to contribute to team success.
  • Ability to operate power and hand tools safely.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English instructions.
