Job summary

Southern Auto Group in Chesapeake, VA seeks an Automotive Service Technician with 2+ years in a dealer-level or large facility setting to diagnose, service, and repair vehicles. Join a busy, full-service shop that values accuracy, safety, and customer satisfaction while offering competitive pay.

Responsibilities include inspections, maintenance, documentation, and teamwork to keep the shop running efficiently. ASE certification and Virginia state inspection license are preferred or obtainable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience.
• Two years of dealer-level or large facility experience preferred.
• ASE certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Virginia State Inspection License (or willingness to obtain).
• Broad knowledge of automotive mechanical/electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses issues based on experience, analysis, and testing.
• Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs.
• Repairs automobiles and light trucks as assigned.
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles during service or repairs.
• Ensures required documentation is complete and compliant with regulations.
• Supports shop efficiency through inventory stocking and general duties.
• Follows all shop policies, safety and environmental rules.
• Attends staff meetings, training, and classes as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience
