Job summary

Southern Hyundai Chesapeake in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an Automotive Service Technician with at least 2 years of dealership or large facility experience. The role requires ASE certification and a Virginia State Inspection License or willingness to obtain. You will diagnose, service, and repair vehicles while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience.
• Two years of dealer-level or large facility experience preferred.
• ASE certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Virginia State Inspection License (or willingness to obtain).
• Broad scope of automotive mechanical/electrical knowledge.
• Unrestricted driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses issues based on experience, analysis, and testing.
• Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs.
• Repairs automobiles and light trucks as assigned.
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles while performing service or repairs.
• Ensures required documentation is complete and compliant with regulations.
• Helps maintain shop appearance and safety standards and supports efficient shop operations.
• Follows all shop policies, safety, and environmental rules.
• Attends staff meetings, training, and education classes as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnoses issues based on experience, analysis, and testing
• Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs
• Repairs automobiles and light trucks as assigned
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles while performing service or repairs
• Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
• Helps maintain shop appearance and safety standards and ensures the shop runs efficiently by performing duties such as inventory stocking and other general functions
• Follows all shop policies, procedures, safety, and environmental rules
• Attends all staff meetings, training, and educational classes as required
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required
• Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience
• Two years of dealer-level or large facility experience preferred
• ASE certification (or is willing to obtain certification)
• Virginia State Inspection License (or is willing to obtain license)
• Broad scope of automotive mechanical/electrical knowledge
• Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
• Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress

• Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
