Southern Auto Group in Virginia Beach is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Technician to diagnose, service, and repair vehicles with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction. The role requires strong mechanical knowledge, a clean driving record, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team.

You will perform inspections, complete maintenance, and document work while adhering to safety standards. Salary ranges from $50,000 to $120,000 annually, with benefits and opportunities for ASE

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience.
• Two years of dealer-level or large facility experience preferred.
• ASE certification (or willingness to obtain) and VA State Inspection License (or willingness to obtain).
• Unrestricted driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses issues based on experience, analysis, and testing.
• Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs.
• Repairs automobiles and light trucks as assigned.
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles while performing service or repairs.
• Ensures documentation is complete and compliant with regulations and standards.
• Supports shop operations and safety procedures.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, some post-secondary automotive training, and at least two years of dealer-level or large facility experience. Holding a State Inspection License and certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is an absolute plus! An unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record, a strong technical performance record, and strong physical dexterity and stamina to get the job done are required. Candidates must be able to work productively in a fast-paced team environment and must have a positive attitude, professional appearance, great communication skills, and the ability to deliver world-class customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnoses issues based on experience, analysis, and testing
• Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs
• Repairs automobiles and light trucks as assigned
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles while performing service or repairs
• Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
• Helps maintain shop appearance and safety standards and ensures the shop runs efficiently by performing duties such as inventory stocking and other general functions
• Follows all shop policies, procedures, safety, and environmental rules
• Attends all staff meetings, training, and educational classes as required
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required
• Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience
• Two years of dealer-level or large facility experience preferred
• ASE certification (or is willing to obtain certification)
• Virginia State Inspection License (or is willing to obtain license)
• Broad scope of automotive mechanical/electrical knowledge
• Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
• Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
