Summary:
A Boiler Service Technician – Apprentice is required to troubleshoot industrial and commercial boilers and associated burner/control systems, along with all ancillary equipment. R.F MacDonald Co. represents product lines such as Cleaver Brooks, Fulton, Camus, Industrial Combustion, and others.

- Have 1 to 3 years of experience in troubleshooting and servicing boilers from light commercial to industrial water-tube and cogeneration applications.
- Hands-on ability for combustion setup, analysis, and troubleshooting to determine and adjust a full range of burners from .5 to 30 Million BTU/HR input.
- Experience with low emission burners and related equipment is a plus but not required.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
- Responsible for internal and external inspections of boilers, burners, and controls to assess functionality and service life.
- Repair and replace refractory, gaskets, parts, and controls as needed.
- Perform hydrostatic testing, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial burners.
- Evaluate boiler room systems (steam and hydronic), gather information, and assist in problem-solving.
- Understanding of hot water and steam boiler support equipment, including deaerators, feed systems, blowdown systems, economizers, and waste heat recovery equipment. Experience with low emission burners is a plus.
- Instrument calibration experience, including troubleshooting, installing, and calibrating meters, controllers, transmitters, and thermocouples using the latest calibration instruments.

- Physical ability to bend, kneel, stand, squat, and climb frequently.
- Ability to lift, carry, and push/pull up to 50 pounds, including moving tubing and heavy materials with mobile equipment.
- Capability to work in confined spaces.
- Must pass physical, hearing, and eye exams.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record; some travel required.

Position Type/Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, with long hours and travel as needed.
Travel: Required to customer sites, including out-of-area and overnight travel.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of technical, community college, or trade school education.
- Computer knowledge is a plus.
