Job summary

Wastequip is seeking a Service Technician at our Phoenix, AZ location to service Streetsweepers, Vacs and Refuse trucks. The role involves warranty support and on-site repairs with an emphasis on hydraulic/electrical systems and adherence to safety guidelines.

Candidates should have 3+ years in truck mechanics, electrical work, and the ability to read hydraulic schematics. Welding is a plus. Competitive hourly pay with full benefits package available.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of truck mechanic experience.
• 3+ years electrical experience.
• Ability to read and repair hydraulic systems and electrical schematics.
• Welding experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications.
• Interprets automotive/Class 8 chassis hydraulic schematics and evaluates pressure.
• Repair of engine, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions; replace parts as needed.
• Test drives to verify serviceability and adjust controls.
• Follow state vehicle requirements for engine, safety and combustion standards.
• Maintain vehicle appearance and records of service and repairs.
• Troubleshoot shop equipment and manage supplies; perform preventive maintenance.
• Evaluate warranty and parts options to contain costs.
• Collaborate with team to ensure quality and safety on site.

Our team is currently looking for a Service Technician to keep up with our level of demand. In this role the successful candidate will work on Streetsweepers, Vacs and Refuse trucks. In most cases the trucks will be providing warranty support, and repair to independent haulers who need work done on the trucks on site. This role is for our Phoenix, AZ location.

Hourly Pay Rate: $25.00 - $35.00+ (Based on experience)

Summary of essential job functions

• Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications,
• Automotive/Class 8 truck chassis hydraulic schematic and pressure evaluation.
• Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
• Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
• Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
• Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
• Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
• Increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
• Ability to lift 50lbs plus, bend, stoop, kneel and climb ladders.
• Above all, must be able to work closely with co-workers or other team members.

Minimum requirements

• 3+ years Truck mechanic experience
• Preferred some welding experience but not required
• 3+ years electrical experience
• Must have the ability to read and repair hydraulic systems along with electrical schematics and repair and diagnose connections of circuitry.
• Waste collection equipment knowledge will be a large plus for this position
