Summary

Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing employee, primarily working inside hospitals. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment used in surgical procedures, as well as providing installation support on complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic units.

Individuals with experience working in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.

This is a remote, customer-facing position. To support and service our customers in this territory, candidates must be based in Texas.

What You'll Do As An Equipment Service Technician

1. Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
2. Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs independently to complete preventive maintenance, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrade programs, and other duties.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management) to escalate issues and use advanced technology platforms to ensure compliance, resolve troubleshooting issues, and document activities.
4. Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities within your territory.
5. Support various locations within your territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

The Experience, Skills, And Abilities Needed

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Related certifications, military experience, or technical training may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical assessments for credentialing.
• Customer and team engagement experience.
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
• Basic computer skills (MS Windows, email, navigation, mobile apps, data entry).
• Flexibility to work early/late hours and overnight shifts as needed.

Pay range: $47,000 - $65,625 annually, based on experience and other factors.
