Job Description
Wastequip’s Fleet Services division has an immediate opportunity for a Service Technician to support our Sacramento, CA service operation. The role involves performing repair services and maintenance, traveling to customers' sites for service/warranty repair work, and working onsite at our facility. Hourly rate: $28.00 - $40.00 (based on experience).
Responsibilities
- Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications.
- Perform jobs at client sites on the road.
- Evaluate automotive/Class 8 truck chassis hydraulic schematics and pressure.
- Verify vehicle service ability by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
- Comply with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
- Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Contain costs by using warranty; evaluate service and parts options.
- Increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Weld on different positions.
- Lift 50 lbs plus, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders.
- Work closely with co‑workers or other team members.
- Show integrity in self and in work.
Qualifications
- 3‑5 years of experience as a truck or heavy equipment mechanic.
- Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic components.
- Welding experience required (proficiency in welding and fabricating).
- General mechanical abilities with diesel trucks or heavy construction equipment.
- Good customer service skills.
- Refuse (waste truck) experience is preferred.
- Ability to ride in a vehicle for long periods of time.
- Team oriented.
