Job summary

Wastequip's Fleet Services division is seeking a Service Technician to support the Sacramento, CA operation. The role involves performing repair services and maintenance, traveling to clients' sites for service and warranty work, and working onsite at the facility.

Hourly rate: $28.00 - $40.00 based on experience. The technician will read schematics, diagnose electrical/hydraulic systems, conduct test drives, and ensure compliance with vehicle standards.

Qualifications

• Able to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
• Able to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic components.
• Welding experience required (proficiency in welding and fabricating).
• General mechanical abilities with diesel trucks or heavy construction equipment.
• Good customer service skills.
• Refuse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications.
• Perform jobs at client sites on the road.
• Evaluate automotive/Class 8 truck chassis hydraulic schematics and pressure.
• Verify vehicle service ability by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
• Comply with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
• Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
• Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
• Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
• Contain costs by using warranty; evaluate service and parts options.
• Increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
• Weld on different positions.
• Lift 50 lbs plus, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders.
• Work closely with co‑workers or other team members.
• Show integrity in self and in work.

• Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic components.
• Welding experience required (proficiency in welding and fabricating).
• General mechanical abilities with diesel trucks or heavy construction equipment.
• Good customer service skills.
• Refuse (waste truck) experience is preferred.
• Ability to ride in a vehicle for long periods of time.
• Team oriented.
