Job summary

Hobart Service is hiring Service Technician I–IV to keep commercial kitchens running for restaurants and facilities in the Pleasanton, CA area. You will work with a company-provided vehicle, receive paid training and certification opportunities, and pursue clear advancement from Technician I through IV and beyond.

The role emphasizes diagnostic and repair work across electrical, mechanical, gas, and refrigeration systems, with on-call shifts including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED required and ability to obtain any required certifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to diagnose diverse equipment issues.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills for field interactions.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company insurance requirements.
• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull equipment; on-call coverage including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial food equipment.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, gas, and refrigeration issues and provide solutions.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on client sites.
• Service cooking, warewash, refrigeration, and food prep equipment.
• Communicate repair recommendations clearly to customers.
• Maintain inventory, tools, and company vehicle; follow safety procedures.

What You'll Do

As a Service Technician, you'll provide installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for commercial food equipment. Responsibilities include:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, gas, and refrigeration equipment issues
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
• Install and service commercial cooking, warewash, refrigeration, and food preparation equipment
• Communicate repair recommendations and solutions with customers
• Maintain parts inventory, tools, and company vehicle
• Support our safety culture by following safety procedures, identifying hazards, and promoting safe work practices

Qualification

We hire all technicians at Levels I-IV and align each candidate to the appropriate level based on their experience, skills, technical knowledge, and certifications.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Valid driver's license and driving record that meets company insurance requirements
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment/parts; bend, kneel, stoop, and climb; work safely in a variety of commercial kitchen environments
• This position requires on-call coverage, including nights and weekends, as needed to support customer service needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial food equipment experience
• Microsoft Office knowledge – Outlook, Word, and Excel
• EPA, Refrigeration, and/or CFESA certifications

Compensation

Pay Range: $26.80 - $54.07 per hour
