The company is seeking a talented and motivated Service Technician to join our security business unit.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform repair/maintenance and moves, adds, and changes of Mission Critical systems throughout New England, including but not limited to: Security (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion) & Wireless Communication
- Perform low voltage cable installation, cable management, cable terminations, device installation, and other assigned service duties as required
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems and/or equipment as necessary
- Complete Preventative Maintenance and system upgrades as required
- Complete test reports and deficiency repairs for systems as required
- Produce accurate documentation of all service performed on calls or tasks as assigned
- Provide daily updates and communication to the Service Team Lead for all assigned calls or tasks
- Perform detailed site survey visits to identify client needs and upgrade opportunities
- Make accurate decisions based on personal and professional judgment and verifiable criteria
- Service small to medium-sized Mission Critical systems independently
- Read and interpret service/project scopes, one-lines, floor plans, submittals, specifications, test reports, and related documentation
- Communicate effectively, especially in occupied and sensitive environments
- Follow cabling best practices—running, supporting, and terminating category-rated and multiconductor cabling
- Be certified or experienced with Fire Stopping and able to fire-stop penetrations
- Have basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Windows Applications
- Understand networking concepts (wired and wireless)
- Configure and troubleshoot device connectivity (LAN and Internet)
- Use low voltage crimp tools, testing tools, and other construction-related tools proficiently
- Demonstrate persistence, tactfulness, responsibility, and confidentiality; make decisions based on verifiable criteria
- Provide excellent customer service using active listening and empathy in various interactions
- Work well independently and as part of a team
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years' experience in service, installation, and commissioning of low voltage/Data Communication systems including Security and Wireless Communication
- Experience with cabling, low voltage infrastructure, and terminations per applicable codes and standards
- Experience with Mission Critical Systems (Security & Wireless Communication)
- Preferred experience with systems like Honeywell Pro Watch, Software House, AMAG, Genetec, DMP, Avigilon, Hirsch, Lenel S2, Bosch, Milestone, Ceragon, Cambium, Siklu
- OSHA 10 certification
- MA State D-License (required for MA security work)
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and acceptable driving record
- Willingness to travel throughout New England (RI, MA, CT, NH, ME)
- Availability for off-hours work, including second, third shifts, and weekends
- Participation in the Service Department on-call rotation
- Ability to see, hear clearly, distinguish colors, and perform physical tasks including climbing, lifting, and working in various conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with security control systems in detention facilities, prisons, courts, and sensitive environments
- Industry or manufacturer certifications
- RI TST Data Licensing
- Firestop Certification (Hilti or 3M)
- Certified in Boom and Scissor Lifts
