Job summary

Dead River Company is seeking a Service Technician to install and repair residential and commercial propane and/or oil burner equipment while delivering a high level of customer service. The role serves as a Dead River Company ambassador by adhering to our Brand Promise and protecting customer property.

Key duties include installing and servicing heating equipment per codes, conducting efficiency tests, documenting parts and labor, and maintaining tools and vehicle readiness.

Qualifications

• Oil burner and/or propane training or CETP/PEP preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of oil/propane service experience.
• Experience working under a Master for required hours.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional, courteous service while protecting customer property.

Position Summary:

Install and repair residential and commercial propane and/or oil burner equipment and appliances while ensuring a high level of customer service. The responsibilities of this position are carried out with particular attention to maintaining customer property and working as a trusted advisor. The Service Technician serves as a Dead River Company ambassador by adhering to our Brand Promise.

Essential Functions:

• Install, troubleshoot, service, and repair oil and/or propane heating equipment and appliances in accordance with applicable codes, safety requirements, and company policies.
• Perform efficiency tests, tune-ups, and service inspections.
• Help ensure work is completed safely and correctly the first time to minimize callbacks.
• Deliver professional, courteous service while treating customers and their property with care.
• Help customers understand Dead River Company products and services and recommend appropriate options based on their needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and ensure tools and equipment are in safe operating condition.
• Accurately record parts and labor associated with service calls.
• Maintain and track parts inventory assigned to the service vehicle.
• Promptly report accidents, spills, and liability claims.
• For qualified propane technicians, perform Gas Check inspections according to applicable codes and company policies.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
• Assists in the training of apprentices.

Experience:

• Successful completion of oil burner and or propane training course or CETP/PEP program desired; training and education provided.
• Must have at least one year of relevant oil and/or propane service experience.
• Must have worked under a Master for requisite number of hours.

Education:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical school training is preferred.

Certification and Licensing:

• Must possess a valid Maine Oil Burner Technician license appropriate to the work performed.
• Must possess the applicable Maine Propane and Natural Gas Technician license/authority for propane installation, service, and repair.
• Applicable CETP/PEP training and certification required for propane work.
• HAZMAT endorsement preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC, wiring and/or plumbing preferred.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle drivers’ license. Driving record is reviewed at employment, and annually thereafter, and must meet company standards. CDL is not required, but it is preferred.
