Job summary

MacQueen Equipment Group seeks an experienced Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain specialized vehicles used by law enforcement and public safety agencies.

You’ll tackle complex electrical systems, HVAC, braking and powertrain work, and on-board specialty equipment. If you enjoy troubleshooting and expanding your skills beyond standard repair, this role is for you.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional automotive, truck, fleet, diesel, or equipment technician experience.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
• A solid understanding of gasoline and diesel engines.
• Strong vehicle electrical experience—we really like people who aren't afraid of wiring.
• Experience with HVAC, braking, and powertrain diagnosis and repair.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and service information.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on law enforcement and specialty vehicles
• Perform repairs accurately and efficiently according to repair orders and manufacturer standards
• Complete vehicle inspections and identify necessary repairs
• Perform factory warranty repairs, computer diagnostics, and programming
• Troubleshoot electrical, HVAC, braking, engine, and powertrain systems
• Diagnose issues involving vehicle-mounted and specialty equipment
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, schematics, and service information
• Use hand tools, power tools, testing and diagnostic equipment, cranes, and hoists
• Document repairs and maintain accurate service records
• Work closely with Service, Parts, and other team members to keep jobs moving
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment
• Participate in manufacturer and technical training to continue building your skills

At MacQueen , our technicians work on vehicles that aren't exactly standard.

We're looking for an experienced Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain specialized vehicles used by law enforcement and public safety agencies.

These vehicles come with a lot more than four wheels and an engine. You'll work with complex electrical systems, specialty equipment, vehicle electronics, HVAC, braking and powertrain systems, and the unique components that turn a standard vehicle into a purpose-built piece of equipment.

If you're a strong automotive or truck technician who enjoys troubleshooting, electrical work, and figuring out the problems that aren't always obvious—we should talk.

No two vehicles—or days—will necessarily look the same.

You'll have the opportunity to work on:

You Might Be Our Person If...

You don't necessarily need experience working specifically on law enforcement vehicles.

We can teach you the specialty equipment. We need you to bring the strong mechanical and diagnostic foundation.

Ideally, you'll have:

• 3+ years of professional automotive, truck, fleet, diesel, or equipment technician experience
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
• A solid understanding of gasoline and diesel engines
• Strong vehicle electrical experience—we really like people who aren't afraid of wiring
• Experience with HVAC, braking, and powertrain diagnosis and repair
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and service information
• Comfort working with diagnostic software and learning new technology
• Strong attention to detail and pride in doing quality work
• A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Experience with law enforcement vehicles, vehicle upfitting, emergency lighting, specialty electronics, fleet vehicles, or aftermarket equipment is a plus.

ADA Requirements:

• Bend, squat, climb, grasp, twist, reach, lift or otherwise move frequently for extended periods.
• Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. frequently, or more occasionally.
• Walk, stand, or otherwise move about continuously.
• Typically sits, grasp items and performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer.
• Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards including chemicals which may require respiratory protection.
