Facility maintenance of structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and landscape systems as required. This includes new installation, preventative maintenance, and service/repair of facility equipment and structure.
Education, Skills & Experience: Technical service school training, High School Diploma or GED and 1-year experience in repair and maintenance of industrial, commercial and/or residential facilities or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as other job-related software. Valid Texas Driver’s License with acceptable driving record and current liability insurance.
Must have a basic knowledge of facility systems (i.e., HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Painting, Carpentry, Landscape, Safety, Security, etc.). Able to read and understand construction plans and detailed drawings. Proficient with all hand and power tools normally associated with constructions trades and service industries as well as cleaning equipment and supplies.
Be able to work respectfully, professionally and in a Christ-like manner with everyone, able to maintain required client/staff boundaries and possess a willingness to serve the Lord in a ministry that deals with homeless men, women and children.
Ability to multi-task and function proficiently in skills and craft trades associated with construction and building maintenance. Participate as a team member and maintain a high level of service quality. Ability to work safely, promote a high level of safety awareness and foster the spirit of SOH’s Safety-First Program.
Cleaning Supplies, General Maintenance Tools (hammer, screwdriver, drill, ladder etc.). The ability to correctly and safely utilize all hand and power tools normally associated with construction trades and service industries. Ability to utilize computers for the purpose of email, work order systems, construction plan retrieval/storage, diagnostics, word processing, trending and more. Valid Texas Driver’s License, with acceptable driving record and current liability insurance. Will drive SOH vehicles -- includes 8 to 15 passenger vans and pick-up truck. General Office Supplies -- Calculator, Telephone, Stapler, etc. Computer Equipment including monitor, keyboard, etc., Copier/Fax/Printer.
Impak work order system, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Work environment encompasses the entire facility with inside and outside work, experiencing a wide range of temperatures. Normal business hours with occasional weekends, evenings and holidays, and possible overtime. Frequent visits to all Star of Hope facilities are required. Work schedule may be subject to change to meet the business needs of the mission. FPM uniform includes blue or black jeans (no holes or loose fringe), slip resistant shoes, and SOH provided shirts. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required as needed for completion of tasks. Exposure to infectious diseases, poor hygiene, drug usage, verbal and physical abuse and other emergency situations related to the homeless population is normal.
Occasional contact with immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate managers, managers in other departments, volunteers and vendors. Occasional face to face discussions with individuals, telephone conversation, and electronic mail.
Medium workload. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. Position requires ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, sit, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, use of fingers, handle, feel, talk, hear, taste/smell, perform repetitive motions, and drive. Technician must see in color and have a full field of vision and depth perception. Frequent use of close vision at 20 inches or less and distance vision at 20 feet or more.
