Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Millwright / Service Technician to join a team that builds, installs, and services cutting-edge, high-speed automation equipment at customer sites in Elk Grove Village, IL. You will work on new builds, overhauls, troubleshooting, audits, and field installations, with travel up to 50%.

The role requires blueprint reading, mechanical assembly experience, machining knowledge, and a safety-focused mindset. Expect day and night shifts as production needs dictate.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models, and troubleshooting documentation.
• Minimum 2 years in mechanical assembly or machinist work.
• Experience with lathes, mills, or mechanical machining.
• Ability to pass a mechanical aptitude test and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Build and overhaul high-speed automation equipment using drawings and specs.
• Disassemble machinery, inspect wear, and rebuild with new or reconditioned parts.
• Assemble sub-assemblies to support spare parts program.
• Interpret hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics for service work.
• Inspect machines with precision tools during rebuilds.
• Recommend improvements to equipment design and processes.
• Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and power tools during builds.
• Travel to customer sites to install and align final assemblies.

As a Millwright / Service Technician, you’ll work hands‑on with custom machinery—supporting new builds, overhauls, troubleshooting, audits, and field installations. This role is ideal for mechanically driven professionals who enjoy travel, problem‑solving, and working with advanced automation systems.

What You’ll Do

• Build and overhaul high‑speed automation equipment using engineering drawings, CAD models, and mechanical specifications
• Disassemble machinery, inspect for wear or damage, and rebuild using new or reconditioned components
• Assemble small machine sub‑assemblies to support the spare parts program
• Interpret hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics to perform service work
• Inspect machines using precision measuring tools before, during, and after rebuilds
• Recommend improvements to equipment design and assembly processes
• Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and power tools during machine builds
• Work collaboratively with a team across day and night shifts depending on production needs
• Travel to customer sites to install, align, and complete final machine assembly
• Fit bearings, bushings, gears, motors, belts, and other mechanical components
• Clean, prep, or paint parts as needed for assembly
• Use hand, power, and pneumatic tools to assemble machine sub‑assemblies and final products
• Perform metalworking tasks using grinders, lathes, welding equipment, cutting torches, or soldering tools
• Order replacement parts using catalogs or digital systems
• Assemble and disassemble complex machinery with precision and care

What You Bring

• Blueprint & schematic reading — Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models, and troubleshooting documentation
• Mechanical assembly experience — Minimum 2 years in mechanical assembly or machinist work

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.70 - $46.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
