Aerotek in Michigan City, IN, is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician for first shift. This contract role involves assembling machine components from detailed prints and SOPs, using hand and power tools, and collaborating with team members and material handlers. Typical work from 6:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of assembly or mechanical aptitude experience.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints and follow written instructions or standard operating procedures.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of basic mechanical principles.
• Proficient in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Comfort working in a team‑oriented manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean manufacturing facility on a first‑shift schedule, typically running from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Employees may stay late during the week and may work approximately 4 hours on occasional Saturdays, with no work on Sundays, and can expect around 5 to 10 hours of overtime per week. The workspace is equipped with fans for air circulation but is not fully climate controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. The environment is production‑focused, organized, and designed to support safe, efficient mechanical assembly work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
