Job description

Service Technician

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Hourly Pay: $23 – $32

Job Description: Repair, maintain, and facilitate installation and servicing of loading dock equipment, industrial doors, and specialty lifts according to plans, blueprints, or drawings. Requires driving to customer sites in a company truck and maintaining an organized work environment.

Technician Job Responsibilities
  • Use hand tools, hoists, jacks, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, and power tools to assemble, install, align, and adjust equipment.
  • Ensure equipment performs to specifications by conducting tests, modifying, and fine‑tuning equipment.
  • Service and maintain equipment per specification.
  • Disassemble or dismantle equipment.
  • Be punctual.
  • Answer requests and concerns about product and service.
  • Plan and facilitate installation and repair of new or refurbished machinery.
  • Conduct safety inspections of equipment.
  • Red tag equipment that is deemed subpar.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills / Abilities
  • Work with mechanical and electrical components.
  • Basic understanding of how mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems work independently or together.
  • Basic understanding of why and how a part failed, and how to replace or repair it.
  • Broad understanding of various equipment models.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational school or associate’s degree in a related field highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods standing, stretching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
  • Visual acuity to inspect and modify large and detailed portions of equipment.
  • Manual dexterity to assemble, disassemble, adjust, service, and perform planned maintenance on equipment.
