Job summary

Mossy Nissan National City is seeking a self-motivated, hard-working Service Smog Technician with automotive knowledge to join our team. This full-time role offers great benefits and immediate opportunities for advancement in a family-owned dealership environment.

The technician will inspect, service, and prepare vehicles per factory standards, with a pay scale including base hourly wages between $34.00 and $38.00 plus a productivity bonus up to $56.00 per hour based on performance.

Qualifications

• Clean & valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of current models and used vehicles.
• Perform work specified on repair orders with efficiency and in line with dealership standards.
• Test-drive vehicles and use diagnostic tools to investigate issues.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair automotive systems including engine, transmission, brakes, and A/C.

The Service SMOG technician inspects, service, and prepares new and used vehicles for sale according to factory and dealership standards, policies, and specifications.

The Service Technician Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Hourly and Flag Rate Compensation of between $34.00 and $38.00, plus a productivity bonus equivalent up to a maximum hourly rate of $56.00 per hour based on individual performance.

Customer satisfaction is a result of your personal work habits and ethics and is of utmost importance as part of your job function. As a Service Smog Technician, the responsibility of customer satisfaction falls into the categories of completing the job correctly, cleanly, honestly, and on time.

The Service Smog Technician is also responsible for setting goals for personal service improvement and monitor progress against customer satisfaction index numbers and production numbers as provided by the Service Manager.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining up to date technical knowledge of current models and used vehicles sufficient to effectively communicate with service & sales staff
• Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership
• Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
• Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
• Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed. Providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs
• Executing repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
• Complying with all applicable company and legal requirements controlling vehicle repairs

• OEM certifications are encouraged!
• Ability to exercise good judgment
• Technical or trade school degree preferred
