Job summary

Ohio Transmission Corporation is seeking a Service Manager to lead training and development of service technicians, guide diagnostics, and drive process improvements. The role involves coordinating with Sales and Operations, maintaining safety standards, and travel to various job sites with possible overnight stays.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, 5+ years in repair of rotating equipment, and leadership experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred.
  • 5+ years in repair/service of rotating equipment, pumps and motors.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
  • Willingness to travel out of state with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Lead training and development of service technicians including on-the-job training and safety.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in equipment, tooling and manufacturing to improve cost and quality.
  • Approve time reporting, attendance, vacations, and overtime.
  • Collaborate with management and HR on reviews, pay raises, attendance and disciplinary issues.
  • Coach technicians to diagnose issues, determine root causes, and specify repair scopes.
  • Maintain detailed work records and use OTC documentation tools.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage the training and development of the service technicians to include but not limited to: on-the-job training, cross-training coverage, safe work habits, and good housekeeping
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements and changes in equipment, tooling, and manufacturing processes supporting cost and quality efficiencies.
  • Approve time/absence reporting, attendance control, vacation planning, overtime, etc.
  • Work closely with management and Human Resources on annual reviews, pay raises, attendance, rewards, discipline and any other personnel issues that may arise.
  • Guide / lead / teach technicians to conduct thorough diagnostics to identify equipment and component issues/problems/root cause/proposed fixes and repair/recondition work scopes
  • Ensure the maintenance of detailed records of work performed, parts used, and other relevant information. Utilize OTC documentation and communication tools and process.
  • Responsible for working with Sales and Operations, at all levels. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to explain repair processes, provide estimates, and address any questions or concerns
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, complying with company and industry safety regulations.
  • Travel to job sites with potential overnight stay depending on customer and project needs.
What You'll Need:
  • High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree or certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in repair/service of rotating equipment, pumps and motors
  • 5+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40-50 lbs
  • Prolonged standing and working in a shop environment
  • Exposure to noise, grease, and industrial conditions
  • Ability to travel out of state with overnight stay.
  • Valid drivers license.
