Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Service Line Manager for the Cardiology Practice to oversee daily operations, staffing, scheduling, billing, and policy compliance. The role focuses on driving performance, coordinating with AVP/Director, and ensuring high standards across the cardiology service line.

The position requires leadership in a physician practice setting, strong data analysis, and collaboration with clinical and administrative teams to support growth and quality outcomes.

  • 3 yrs lead exp, 4 yrs physician practice exp.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operations of the Cardiology Service Line daily to ensure accuracy and completeness of duties.
  • Reviews reports including Billing and Collection Reports and presents issues to AVP/Director.
  • Provides monthly summaries of Cardiology Practice operations to AVP/Director for review meetings with physicians.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings and communicates policy/procedure changes.
  • Supports Practice by understanding scheduling, front desk, insurance verification, billing, and related functions.
  • Maintains Kronos time tracking and monitors overtime approvals.
  • Prepares check requests and ensures timely submission to Physician Administration.
  • Ensures par levels of office and medical supplies are maintained.
  • Communicates issues to Administrative team and proposes process improvements.
  • Maintains physician time off, on-call, and conference schedules.
  • Evaluates employee performance and conducts evaluations.
  • Oversees cash controls and daily deposits, identifying delays.
  • Resolves staff, patient, visitor, and physician concerns promptly.
  • Collaborates with Revenue Integrity/Business Office on coding, denials, and A/R.
  • Ensures Joint Commission compliance in the practice.
  • Executes operational and strategic plans for the service line.
  • Leads service line development and integration with other departments.
  • Provides oversight for quality and operational performance.
  • Develops community physician relationships to increase capacity.

Job Description Summary

Position Responsibilities
  • Oversees the operations of the of the Cardiology Service Line practice on a daily basis to ensure accuracy and completeness of duties. Supervises staffing, productivity, billing and all other core functions within the Practices.
  • Reviews Reports using collected data and other pertinent information, including Billing Reports and Collection Reports, financial and trending reports and present issues/suggestions to AVP and Director.
  • Provides monthly summary of all Cardiology Practice operations (staffing, financial reports, billing and collection reports) to AVP/Director for presentation during monthly operating review meetings with physicians.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings with cardiology Practice staff to keep them apprised of any changes on office policy or procedures or Administrative directives.
  • Supports Practice by possessing a full understanding of scheduling, front desk, insurance verification, and billing/batch functions and covering these positions as needed.
  • Reviews and monitors Kronos to ensure overtime is approved prior to occurring. Monitors clock in and out for all staff.
  • Prepares check request as needed and ensures Physician Administration receives request in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for completing and submitting Audit Tracer, Time Study sheets, pharmacy check list and all other forms as required by Physician Administration.
  • Responsible for ensuring that par levels of office and medical supplies are kept.
  • Daily communication with Administrative team outlining Practice issues/concerns and development of plan of action to address problems and make regular recommendations to AVP/Director regarding process improvements in the practices.
  • Maintains accurate physician time off, on call and conference schedules. Ensures that Physician Administration receives and approves in advance and maintains in physician calendar.
  • Evaluates and completes employee job performance evaluations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitors the cash controls of the cardiology Practices to ensure management of Petty Cash and Receipts are in compliance with Practice policy. Reviews weekly deposits to identify trends in delays in daily deposits.
  • Resolving problems and concerns of all staff, patients, visitors and physicians with confidence and control in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with the Revenue Integrity/Business Office to address issues / trends related to coding, compliance, denials, A/R etc.
  • Ensures Joint Commission compliance in the practice. Including but not limited to sample drug logs, cleaning log, completeness of patient records including Ambulatory Summary Records.
  • Performs other departmental specific job responsibilities as needed.
  • Executes on the operational and strategic plan for the specific service line.
  • Manages the development of strategy by leveraging organizational strengths and relationships.
  • Evaluates existing structure to ensure the continued support for the future growth of services.
  • Serves as the leader for the service line by being the liaison with all other departments.
  • Provides administrative direction of the overall operations of the service line.
  • Collaborates with regional leaders, clinicians and physicians to provide oversight of clinical and operational practices.
  • Collaborates with department leaders, physician leaders, and administrative leaders to develop a robust integrated service line.
  • Works towards integrating services lines, enhancing physician engagement, and improving patient and operational outcomes.
  • Provides oversight over the service line ensuring a hyper-focused, data driven approach towards quality and operational performance.
  • Operationalizes community and network development opportunities.
  • Develops relationships with community physicians to increase capacity.
