Job summary

Trane Technologies in Denver, Colorado seeks a Service Estimator to quote HVAC service projects for Account Managers and building owners. You will build detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, and subcontractors, and develop the scope for bids with attention to on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role requires a technical degree or HVAC experience, strong Excel and Salesforce knowledge, and proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associates degree in engineering preferred with 3–5 years' related experience; or technical certificate with 5 years related experience; or HVAC technician experience.
• Working knowledge of commercial HVAC and building services.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, Outlook; ability to organize data and prepare proposals.

Responsibilities

• Create quotes for service agreements and quoted works supporting Account Managers.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, sub-contractors, labor, and equipment.
• Develop scope from design-build documents and make take-offs for pricing.
• Negotiate with vendors/sub-contractors to optimize job costs.
• Lead pre-bid meetings to review scope and strategy.
• Maintain industry-standard knowledge to stay competitive.

What's in it for you: Trane in Denver, Colorado is hiring for a Service Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be working with Trane Account Managers and building owners providing estimates and quotes for HVAC service projects and agreements. Trane always focuses on a total solution to provide our customers with the most energy efficient buildings!

What you will do:

• Create quotes for service agreements and all quoted works in support of our Service Account Managers and Controls Service Account Managers.
• Responsible for the cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.), and other construction-related activities created by personnel to assist Account Managers in bidding on or determining price of project.
• Develops detailed scope based on Account Managers design-build scope.
• Creates detailed cost estimates including system sketches, scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposal, vendor/sub-contractor quotes, and points list.
• Responsible for the take-off and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
• Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities and/or risk items that will occur on various projects.
• Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards.
• Develops the scope of work for sub-contractors.
• Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials and services.
• Responsible for holding job pre-bid meeting with Account Managers to review scope, strategy, etc.

What you will bring:

• Bachelor's or Associates degree in engineering, engineering technology or related study preferred with minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ related experience; or technical certificate with five (5) years related experience; or HVAC Technician experience with combination of education and related field experience. Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; we prioritize practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with our leadership principles.
• Working knowledge of all facets of commercial HVAC and building services.
• Working knowledge of all facets of construction including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, etc. preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to organize data, prepare professional proposals, and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Experience using Salesforce or other customer relationship management (CRM) platforms to manage opportunities, track customer interactions, and maintain accurate sales and project records preferred.
• Experience with financial and business acumen and a history of running projects on time and on budget.
• Proven experience prioritizing tasks in order to meet tight deadlines within a high-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Experience working directly with building owners is a plus.
• Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
