Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking an estimat or to support service and controls projects. You will prepare cost estimates, develop detailed scopes, and price equipment while coordinating with Account Managers to bid effectively.

The role emphasizes construction knowledge, financial acumen, and the ability to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment. On-site work Monday–Thursday with flexible Friday locations supports a balanced schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology or related study preferred; or minimum of one to three years’ related estimating experience; or minimum five (5) years HVAC Technician experience.
  • Working knowledge of all facets of construction including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, etc. preferred.
  • Preferred experience with financial and business acumen and a history of running projects on time and on budget.
  • Proven experience prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines within a high paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Experience working directly with building owners is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create quotes for service agreements and all quoted works in support of our Service Account Managers.
  • Estimate costs including materials, sub-contractors, installed equipment, labor and other activities.
  • Develop detailed scope from design-build; prepare proposals and vendor quotes.
  • Prepare take-offs and pricing of purchased equipment for accuracy.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and risks across projects.
  • Negotiate prices with vendors/sub-contractors to optimize job costs.
  • Lead pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and strategy.

Where is the work: Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.

What you will do:
  • Create quotes for service agreements and all quoted works in support of our Service Account Managers and Controls Service Account Managers.
  • Responsible for the cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.), and other construction-related activities created by personnel to assist Account Managers in bidding on or determining price of project.
  • Develops detailed scope based on Account Managers design-build scope.
  • Creates detailed cost estimates including system sketches, scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposal, vendor/sub-contractor quotes, and points list.
  • Responsible for the take-off and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
  • Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities and/or risk items that will occur on various projects.
  • Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards.
  • Develops the scope of work for sub-contractors.
  • Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials and services.
  • Responsible for holding job pre-bid meeting with Account Managers to review scope, strategy, etc.
What you will bring:
  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in engineering, engineering technology or related study preferred; or minimum of one (1) to three (3) years’ related estimating experience; or minimum five (5) years HVAC Technician experience.
  • Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; we prioritize practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with our leadership principles.
  • Working knowledge of all facets of construction including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, etc. preferred.
  • Preferred experience with financial and business acumen and a history of running projects on time and on budget.
  • Proven experience prioritizing tasks in order to meet tight deadlines within a high paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Experience working directly with building owners is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to: : DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:

$45,400.00 - $92,500.00
