We are currently searching for a Service Desk Engineer to fill a full-time ongoing contract position with our client, a 24-hour international public news media corporation. The position is onsite in Washington, DC.

About the Opportunity:

This position reports to the Supervisor – Tech Infrastructure & Service Desk. The role provides first‐line support for all company user‐base for user‐facing hardware, software, desktop, enterprise and broadcast applications.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance for critical systems to avoid on air output service interruption
  • Setup and maintain critical IT devices used by field journalists and external bureaus (Reporters, Cameramen, presenters, etc.) to ensure business continuity and provide support remotely when required.
  • Support and maintain On‐Air systems and core business applications (iNews, NewsBrowse, Outlook, Telephone Systems, Web feed, etc.).
  • Respond to end user Incidents and Requests (Calls, E-mails and ESS) and ensure all calls are logged, updated and closed accurately as per agreed Service/Operational Level Agreements (SLAs/OLAs).
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, network, and communication devices and provide documentation.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Record all IT hardware & software assets using the Asset Management process.
  • Prepare general reports relevant to the job and submit it to superiors.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Science, IT, or related field
  • ITIL Foundation certification preferred (or ability to become certified within 3 months of hire).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in related industry field

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Written and verbal communication
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving Skills
  • IT Hardware and Software
  • IT technologies, networking and various operating system setup, configurations and technical support skills

Abilities:

  • Able to provide technical support to end user quickly

Pay Range: $30 - $34 per hour. Benefits are available.
