Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Vallen’s Warehouse Workers are responsible for executing warehousing activities related to incoming and outgoing goods. They receive, handle, store, record, and dispatch goods, ensuring operations such as packing, storage, replenishment, picking, loading, and dispatching are performed safely, efficiently, and accurately using the ERP (SxE) system.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Complete shipments by processing orders, loading, and reading various work documents to determine items to move or distribute.
2. Unload, receive, and store incoming goods; check for damage and discrepancies; secure items for transit as needed.
3. Sort, label, move, and store goods according to size, style, or codes; optimize storage space; follow work orders or instructions.
4. Weigh or count items to ensure they meet company standards.
5. Prepare, pick, pack, and dispatch outgoing goods; verify accuracy and handle products with appropriate equipment.
6. Load trucks for delivery; secure goods to prevent damage; verify shipping details.
7. Consolidate freight, verify shipping methods, and communicate with freight carriers about oversize loads.
8. Enter and retrieve data in computerized systems; document discrepancies and seek management advice when needed.
9. Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
10. Assist with inventory management and counts.
11. Follow all warehouse safety regulations.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent, with at least 1 year of relevant experience or training. Preferred skills include:

• Attention to detail and safety consciousness
• MSHA Certification (Vallen will provide)
• Experience with loading, unloading, picking, packing, and warehouse equipment including forklifts and cherry pickers
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work orders, and manuals
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with MS-Office, Vista, SX.e, Control, Prophet 21 is a plus
• Basic math skills; ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages
• Ability to compile reports and communicate effectively in a team environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work may involve extreme temperatures, dusty conditions, handling hazardous materials, and operating safety equipment. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crawling, climbing, and balancing. Safety gear will be provided, and certifications for equipment operation may be required. Work shifts may vary, including overtime, evenings, weekends, often with little notice.
