Job summary

Meijer is seeking a Service Coordinator to ensure a high-quality customer shopping experience by leading front-end operations and coordinating checkout flow. You will assign tasks to cashiers and courtesy teams, coach staff, and drive accountability for front-end performance.

You will engage in training, support labor utilization, and customer issue resolution to bolster satisfaction and operational efficiency across shifts. This role emphasizes teamwork and community involvement.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Service Coordinator training curriculum (includes curriculums for Cashier, Service Desk, and Courtesy Team).
• Ability to operate cash register system and all financial services equipment.
• Good communication skills, friendly, customer oriented, organized, detail oriented, sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with peer leadership for smooth handoff between shifts.
• Perform survival walk of the department and shift-to-shift hand-off when the team leader or area leader is not present.
• Coordinate and drive actions and activities involving the monitoring and control of shrink and financial business outcomes within areas of responsibility. Proactively escalat[e] concerns to leadership as they arise.
• Champion participation in community programs. Lead by example with behaviors and team member resource group (TMRG) engagement.
• Serve as a certified trainer for team members in their span of care.
• Perform on-the-job/hands-on team member training and mentoring.
• Serve as subject matter expert for market programs, company pilots, and development/training programs.
• Assign tasks to team members within the department, in partnership with the team leader, and follow up to ensure task completion.

This role coordinates checkout flow, maintains front-end cleanliness and standards, and assigns work for cashiers, service desk, and courtesy team members to meet productivity and service expectations. Through active coaching, labor utilization, and customer issue resolution, the Service Coordinator drives strong customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and accountability for front-end performance.
