  • Ability to commute to Concord, NC area or willingness to relocate.

Job description

The Service Controls Engineer is responsible for Servicing, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical assemblies and performing retrofits to existing equipment, Robotic work cells, pneumatic hardware and other components. Both, with an emphasis on quality and efficiency.

Core Proficiencies include:

  • Lead the development of Controls architecture for multiple module system and the engineering team.
  • Program control systems for cam, servo, and air operated stations, along with test and electrical devices.
  • Ensure the electrical and program designs are functional, robust, and cost effective.
  • Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate IMA Automation, USA standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Research and specify appropriate purchased and preferred components.
  • Create electrical wiring schematics, flow diagrams, panel layouts, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update schematics.
  • Participate in internal and customer design reviews, installations, and service calls when needed.
  • Provide Technical support to external and internal customers.
  • Guide Electricians in wiring and codes. Support software validation requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues.
  • Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality and allotted budgets.
  • Problem-solve with Mechanical Builders, debug software issues, and update all appropriate documentation.
  • Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
  • Work closely with Mechanical Engineering and Build and exhibit objectivity and openness to others' views.
  • Follow all policy and procedures to maintain ISO9000 Certification requirements.
  • Prioritizes, plans, and organizes work and workspace.
  • Ability to commute to Concord, NC area on a daily basis or willingness to relocate.
  • Travel required including international.

Requirements:

  • Certificate in machining/toolmaking or equivalent work history.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent experience. Six years of directly related experience.
  • Technical understanding of pharmaceutical / biotechnology unit operations.
  • Fundamental understanding to Rockwell RSLogix or Siemens development software, Schematic Capture Software, AutoCAD or Equivalent CAD environments.
  • Strong experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC’s, HMI’s and Servo control.
  • Cognex vision systems. Epson, Stabli and Fanuc robotics.
  • Strong technical writing, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent planning and coordination skills and be able to readily adapt to changes in priorities and project schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of computer programs such as Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook and Project. Should have experience with AutoCAD or other CAD environments. Knowledge of Inspection and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, dB meters, etc.
