Job summary

Smart & Final in Oakland is hiring a Service Clerk to support store operations, maintain carts, assist customers, check prices, and help with loading purchases into vehicles. This on-site role requires reliable, friendly service and physical capability.

Starting at $17.35 per hour, the position offers opportunities to grow within a long-standing community-focused grocer. Candidates should be able to read and write English and work well in a busy team environment.

Qualifications

• Read and write English, interact with general public and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, and memos.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple written or oral instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Collect and organize shopping carts and retrieve carts from the parking lot.
• Assist customers with loading merchandise into carts and loading vehicles.
• Check retail prices on shelf for check stand personnel.
• Return merchandise to proper shelves and face products on aisles.
• Maintain cleanliness of store entrances and restrooms throughout the day.
