Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking an experienced Operations Assistant to support the Service Center Director in managing a Salvation Army Service Center and Thrift Store. This role oversees staff and volunteers, coordinates donations, ensures proper pricing, maintains security of funds, and provides client referrals while upholding program policies and nonprofit integrity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years’ experience in progressive social service work with supervisory and bookkeeping responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist Service Center Director in planning, directing, and participating in day‑to‑day operations of the Service Center and Thrift Store.
• Supervise, schedule, and evaluate staff and volunteers; train personnel and ensure procedures are followed.
• Coordinate donations, pricing, merchandising, and rotation to maximize store sales; ensure accuracy of deposits.
• Maintain client case files with confidentiality and provide referrals as needed; represent the organization in the community when the director is unavailable.
• Ensure facilities and equipment are clean, maintained, and secure; monitor security of store funds.
• Maintain attendance, read/write English, and perform basic math; drive duties and related tasks as required.
