Job description

Join to apply for the Service Center Manager 4 role at ABF Freight

Work as a team leader to ensure efficient operation of the service center, maximize profitability and business growth, and provide superior customer service. Collaborate with District Sales Manager, Office System Specialist, and Operations Supervisors to meet all terminal operations and sales goals.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform administrative functions including invoice review and approval, terminal expenses and collections, and timecard approval.
  2. Handle other duties and projects as assigned.
  3. Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
  4. Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
  5. Represent the company at grievance hearings, as necessary.
  6. Address issues involving customer relations and/or other ABF service centers.
  7. Apply contractual labor rules to employees and maintain labor relations with input and support of Industrial Relations.
  8. Enforce company policies and procedures, and apply the quality process continually.
  9. Communicate with touch labor, supervisory, and sales personnel to address issues, relay feedback, and provide relevant information to upper management.
  10. Work with District Sales Manager to monitor and grow sales and market share.
  11. Coordinate with Regional Maintenance Superintendent for equipment maintenance and repairs, and work with Operations to improve profitability and monitor office functions.
  12. Hire and develop relationships with outside vendors.
  13. Hire, schedule, develop/discipline, motivate, counsel, and coach management and touch labor staff.
  14. Conduct annual terminal self-audit.
  15. Purchase office and dock supplies for the terminal.
  16. Ensure security, maintenance, and upkeep of the terminal facility.
  17. Approve and issue station drafts.
  18. Make sales calls, manage a sales territory, and develop profitable business.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
  2. At least 5 years experience in field operations management and/or sales.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  4. Customer Focus, Decision Making, Critical Thinking, Managing Multiple Priorities, Performance Management, Service Center Operation and Maintenance, Service Excellence, Staffing, Hiring, and Selection.
Other Details
  • Typically, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, with occasional irregular hours depending on workload.
  • This is a salaried position paid biweekly, with variable compensation.
