Job description

Summary
The Kitchen Bistro in Austin features a seasonal menu in a refined rustic atmosphere that is warm and inviting. The Service Bartender is responsible for preparing and executing, from memory, all classic drinks as well as cocktails on the menu for dining room guests. Our service bartenders support the team and help to create and maintain an exciting, inviting, and progressive environment. This person should be a high-energy, outgoing individual who will help to foster connections with friends, family, and the community through service and drinks. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, eager to learn, and adaptable. We offer a unique, fun environment with the opportunity to grow within the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional guest service that differentiates us from all other restaurants.
  • Execute fast, consistently great beverages including cocktails, beer, and wine.
  • Demonstrate full knowledge of classic and The Kitchen cocktails from memory.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of all food menus. Be able to answer guest questions confidently and thoroughly.
  • Occasionally initiate a guest experience at the bar, including enthusiastic greets, setting up full place settings and taking and preparing initial beverage order.
  • Keep the work area immaculate, clean as you go.
  • Perform side work including beverage prep, setup, maintenance and restocking of the bar including washing, sterilizing and polishing glassware and instruments.
  • Assist with proper opening and closing of the restaurant. Perform related work as requested.
  • Model and promote teamwork.
  • Ability to perform objectives in a timely and efficient manner with a focus on quality, while always maintaining an environment of hospitality.
  • Promote and embrace The Kitchen community and culture by demonstrating respect, positive energy, dependability, honesty, initiative, an outgoing nature and a pleasant, professional appearance.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least two years of bartending experience and be passionate about hospitality.
  • Superior temperament, adaptable nature, and good communication skills.
  • Motivated professional with a love for taking care of others.
  • Demonstrate integrity in all areas, both personal and professional.
  • Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly.
  • The ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age; Must be able to serve alcohol.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to perform all functions at the restaurant level.
  • Working with hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment as well as operating office equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • May be required to work in very warm or cold conditions for an extended period of time.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee may be asked to walk to local businesses, promoting, marketing, and distributing materials as needed.
