Job summary

Friendship Village STL in St. Louis is seeking a friendly Food Server for our Assisted Living and Memory Care dining rooms. You will be the main contact for residents, help present menus, take orders, and ensure meals are served with care.

The role emphasizes excellent customer service, teamwork with staff, and maintaining clean dining areas while supporting residents with dietary needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Experience serving tables in a hotel, restaurant, or fine dining club is desirable.
• Ability to interpret and explain the menu, address questions, manage the meal service process, and respond to requests.
• Capability to work closely with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisors, and peers. Requires courtesy, tact, and grace.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English, performing basic arithmetic, and following written or oral instructions in English.
• Commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for resident interactions in the dining room.
• Prepare dining tables with an emphasis on cleanliness and organization.
• Attend to residents as they arrive in the dining area.
• Present menus and assist residents in choosing food and beverages.
• Take food and beverage orders, ensuring they are communicated to the kitchen staff promptly.
• Deliver and serve food and beverage items quickly and confirm that each resident has received the correct menu items.
• Clean and sanitize production equipment, work surfaces, and the kitchen according to cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Assist in transporting food and items to and from the kitchen to dining or resident rooms.
