Job summary

Wicked Weed Brewing in Asheville, NC, is seeking a part-time Server to deliver friendly, knowledgeable service in a fast-paced brewpub. You will greet guests, explain menu items and beers, take orders, and ensure guest satisfaction while upholding responsible alcohol service.

The role emphasizes beer knowledge, money handling, team collaboration, and flexible scheduling. Experience in restaurant/bar settings and POS systems is preferred; certification such as Cicerone Beer Server is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in restaurant/bar settings preferred.
• Strong communication and guest-service abilities.
• Certification in beer service is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Attend pre-shift meetings and greet guests promptly.
• Greet guests within 45 seconds; explain menu and beer items.
• Know menu offerings and preparation techniques.
• Be aware of hours, tours, and promotions.
• Take and expedite orders; use seat numbers and pivot points.
• Follow up with guests using check-back rule.
• Escalate VIP requests to GM/MOD as needed.
• Serve alcohol responsibly per guidelines; manage difficult situations.
• Handle money accurately and give change.
• Describe beers on tap, and discuss prices and glassware.
• Complete opening/closing duties and keep station clean.
• Stock service area; bus tables; maintain a neat workspace.
• Flexible scheduling is preferred.

Reports To: General Manager/Manager on Duty

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Serving guests with an enthusiastic and friendly attitude and knowledge of Wicked Weed Brewing’s products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attend pre-shift meetings (line-up).
• Greet and/or acknowledge guests within 45 seconds, engage in polite conversation, answer questions, and offer information on all menu items and beverage items and offerings of Wicked Weed Brewing (i.e.: new beers, soups and specials).
• Full knowledge of menu offerings and preparation techniques.
• Be knowledgeable with regards to operating hours of Wicked Weed Brewing locations, brewery tours and any promotions/events.
• Take food orders, expediting food, etc. Use seat numbers and pivot points.
• Follow up with guests using two minute/two bite check-back rule.
• Advise GM or MOD of any VIP’s or special requests of guests.
• Serve alcohol to customers responsibly & politely while adhering to training guidelines.
• Cut off individuals when necessary & communicate to GM and/or FOH MOD.
• Accurately tender money and give change for purchases.
• Beer knowledge: Accurately describe all beers on tap & bottles in cooler, compare & contrast beers & styles, know proper glassware and price points.
• Complete opening setup, maintain running side work and complete closing duties and light cleaning projects.
• Maintain clean and organized work area / service station.
• Stock service area with supplies and bus tables.
• Flexible schedule preferred.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Education and/or Experience:

• Previous experience in a restaurant/bar atmosphere checking and verifying ID’s
• Full service dining room experience
• Prior money handling experience
• POS system experience
• Cicerone Beer Server certification recommended.
• Extensive food knowledge.
