Job summary

HumanGood in California is seeking a part-time Waitstaff/Server to greet residents and guests, take orders, and serve meals with courtesy. You’ll input orders into the POS, explain menu items and daily specials, and help ensure a clean, safe dining room.

This role requires prior food service experience, flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays, and English proficiency. Certifications like ServSafe or Food Handler are preferred. Teens may apply in accordance with local rules.

Qualifications

  • Experience in food service, fast food or restaurant settings.
  • Experience working with seniors preferred.
  • Food Handler or ServSafe certification preferred.
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to speak/read/write English; follow instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Greet residents and guests promptly at their table.
  • Records accurate food and beverage orders and input into the POS system.
  • Explains how menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Informs guests of daily specials, makes recommendations.
  • Attends pre-shift Showtime meetings, listening to menu descriptions and taking notes as needed to remember ingredients and allergy alerts
  • Carries service tray in correct placement of orders to facilitate service of food and beverages.
  • Works safely, consistently using designated safety equipment (PPE).
  • Completes bussing, runner, meal plater, utility and catering duties as needed or assigned.
  • Refills beverages throughout the meal service
  • Handles guest complaints in a positive and professional manner, referring to supervisor as appropriate;
  • Flexible with job duties;
  • As assigned works all shifts and holidays;
  • As assigned, performs catering function set up, break down and service;
  • Organizes tasks and completes all assigned tasks;
  • Maintains front of house and kitchen sanitation requirements;
  • Completes pre and post shift cleaning and stocking side work duties
  • Communicates appropriately with supervisors and dining room staff;
  • Listens and follows up effectively;
  • Set tables with silverware, saucers, bread plates, cups, water glasses, etc.;
  • Fill water pitchers, coffee pots, napkin and bread baskets; prepares juice and milk or milk carts; folds napkins; places butter and creamers, jellies; prepares and oversees buffets and salad bars;
  • Wait on residents, taking orders, serving food, beverages, and desserts; serves up desserts and salads; cleans off dishes as resident’s finish eating;
  • May prepare trays and tray tags for next meal; may serve on tray line,
  • May prepare and deliver snacks;
  • Keep accurate meal counts;
  • Handle food in accordance with sanitary and recognized food serving standards;
  • Responsible for adhering to HIPPA privacy rules and company policies, procedures and practices which require that resident-identifiable health information will only be used to perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Description

The Waitstaff/Server’s day-to-day work includes routinely setting up, clearing and cleaning and resetting dining room. You would be taking menu orders and serving residents and guests meals in a timely and gracious manner. You Will be providing quality customer service to residents and guests.

This is a Part - Time position | Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday| Sunday 3 PM - 8 PM

To be successful in the role, you would have:

  • Prior food service, fast food or restaurant experience
  • Prior experience working with seniors (preferred)
  • Food Handler’s or ServSafe certification (preferred)
  • Availability that might include evenings, weekends, & holidays
